Dr Ben Teoh MBBS MPsych FRANZCP, FAChAM
Medical Superintendent & Director of Clinical ServicesDr Ben Teoh is a Psychiatrist and Physician in Addiction Medicine and is acknowledged as a leading expert in his field. He is sought after as a speaker, particularly in the area of Mood Disorders and Dual Diagnosis of people with Addiction and Psychiatric Disorders.
Dr Teoh has a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy with a thesis on the psychotherapy of depression. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Psychiatrist and Royal Australasian College of Physician (Addiction Chapter).
Dr Teoh is actively involved in Mental Health and the Law, and was a Member of the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal.

Dr Brian Gutkin M.B, BCh., M.A.C.P., M.A.N.Z.A.P., F.R.A.N.Z.C.P
Consultant Psychiatrist & Specialist PsychotherapistDr Brian Gutkin has been with South Pacific for over 15 years now and therefore very well versed in the South Pacific treatment model. He is a consultant psychiatrist and specialist psychotherapist and is also the Director of Psychiatry at the hospital.
Dr Gutkin as well as a psychiatrist also has additional advanced training and expertise in psychotherapy particularly in the area of complex trauma, developmental immaturity and therapy for depression, mood disorders and the underlying causes of substance abuse, gambling and other addictions
Brian is currently President of the Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists and also has an interest in the therapeutic value of meditation, mindfulness and meditative psychotherapy. He is also in private practice as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist at St Leonards (ph: 94370656)

Dr Sian Ong MB BS (UNSW), FRANZCP; Cert of Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP).Dr Ong graduated from medicine in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He completed further training in child and adolescent psychiatry. He is also a member of the college sub-section of psychiatry and addiction medicine. Dr Ong's interests include treatment of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, alcohol and substance dependence. He has particular interests in mindfulness-based therapies and a compassionate approach in promoting and facilitating human growth and potential.

Colin Anderson, Grad Dip Couns, QMACA , MBACP
Therapy Services Manager
After migrating to Australia from the UK, Colin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of Clinical Co-ordinator at SPP.
His background in welfare and counselling spans over 12 years, during which time he has worked for both the N.H.S. and private hospitals. Colin’s previous position was as a group therapist working for the Priory Hospital Group.
Prior to that Colin had a successful career in the military, working as a Practice Manager and a Welfare Officer.
Colin is committed to Continued Professional Development and has a special interest in P.T.S.D. |

Steve Kay, RN
Nursing Unit Manager
Steve Kay is an experienced Registered Nurse in mental health, and initially trained as a psychiatric nurse in his native UK. After immigrating to Australia he pursued his post graduate studies, and is due to complete his Masters in Advanced Clinical Practices in Mental Health in 2010.
Passionate and dedicated to working in the field of substance abuse and mood disorders, he has worked in a wide variety of public and private healthcare facilities.
Steve enjoys working in within the SPP program, treating the underlying issues of addictions and mood disorders, and being able to see the positive outcomes for our clients. |

RHODA SILBER Dip. Couns & Comm
Intake ManagerRhoda has been associated with South Pacific Private since 2003 when she joined as an Intern, having completed her Diploma of Counselling with ACAP.
Her interest in people, combined with a passion to make a positive difference to their lives, inspired and motivated Rhoda to enter the counselling arena. Since qualifying, she has worked in a part-time capacity at SPP in a number of roles across the organization.
Aside from her counselling qualifications, Rhoda has extensive customer service and people management experience, holding senior positions in banking with Citigroup and the National Australia Bank.
Rhoda re-joined SPP full-time in October 2007 and now applies her skills at customer service, counselling and sound business acumen to ensure that all enquirers receive the best information, support and guidance for their own unique circumstances. |

DR ROBY ABELES, Ph.D
Clinical Consultant
Dr Roby Abeles has over twenty years experience as a psychotherapist, working with a wide range of clients from all walks of life in both Australia and Southern California, USA.
She has a specialty Bachelors Degree in Chemical Dependency Counselling, is a certified Rape Crisis Counsellor and was trained in individual and group addiction counselling at the world famous Betty Ford Centre, where she worked in the late 1980’s.
Dr Abeles has a Masters degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan College.
An Approved Consultant of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) in Australia, Dr Abeles is a clinical member of CAPA, PACFA, EMDRAA, EMDRIA, SCAPE (Society of Counsellor and Psychotherapist Educators) ISTSS (The International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies) and is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in California and a member of the California association of marriage and family therapists (CAMFT). |
