Through their own therapeutic journey of addiction and despair Bill and Lorraine eventually found health,
healing and hope through a residential program at a world renown
treatment centre in the desert of Arizona in the USA called The Meadows.
The profound impact that this program, had on their lives was such that they became deeply motivated to found a similar facility here in Australia where the need was great and treatment centres of this type as yet unknown.
Pat and Pia Mellody, founders of The Meadows program, generously shared their program to assist Bill and Lorraine in opening South Pacific Private Hospital in 1993 on Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches. They continued to supported South Pacific Private with expertise and advise through the crucial early years.
Over the years SPPH, as it became known, grew and developed, South Pacific attained full accreditation with the Australian Council of Healthcare standards EQuIP program in 1994 and were the first psychiatric hospital in NSW to achieve second tier default accreditation status in 2001.
In 2005 we chose to change our name from South Pacific Private Hospital to:
South Pacific Private
Australia’s Leading Treatment Centre
In order to reflect our integrated approach and commitment to excellence in the treatment of addictions and emotional disorders.
In keeping with its high reputation and consistently favourable results in outcome studies such as HONoS and the MHQ, South Pacific Private continues to maintain full Accreditation.
