Treatment programs for addictions and mood disorders

| Print |

At South Pacific Private we recognise that each person is an individual, so although the SPP Programs work within a structured framework, an individualised treatment plan will be developed for each client entering treatment as an inpatient or day patient. All programs involve an integrated holistic approach managed by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, therapists and medical staff.

At the heart of our treatment approach is our Primary Program. This can be undertaken as a day patient or inpatient at South Pacific Private. Individual ‘Goals of Treatment' are set by each client, together with their Case Manager, at the commencement of their program and then monitored throughout.

A client's treatment plan may include one or more of the following components:

Day and Evening Programs

Our aim with the Day and Evening is to bring structure, continuity, fundamental skills and therapeutic support to people struggling with mood disorders or social isolation.

Relapse Prevention Program

Relapse prevention is a theme running through each phase of the treatment program at SPP. However, for the extra support people breaking free from an addiction require, we also have a special program running one night a week for 10 weeks. This is held at SPP on Wednesday evening and is recommended for many clients, post discharge, to support them through that crucial first 90 days.

Frameworks for Change

This is an eight-week program offering support and skills designed to assist family members in managing the many emotional, intellectual, physical, social and spiritual challenges that are often present when someone they love is struggling with an addiction. Topics covered include boundaries, stress and coping styles, communication, self care and crisis management.

Changes II

Changes 2 is also an intensive 5 day residential workshop. The focus of this week is therapeutic processing in a small group setting. This is an opportunity to explore unaddressed issues, blocks to recovery or to identify the origins, and the path to resolution, of problematic issues and relational patterns in your life.
