Ending a dependency on any substance requires good support. A successful detox needs to combat the emotional and physical stresses of withdrawal, as well as the deeper issues that go with drug abuse.
Our programs are designed to help anyone struggling with:
- recreational drugs
- prescription and non prescription medication
- other substances, including alcohol
- relationship or life problems that result from substance abuse
The South Pacific Private approach to treating drug dependencyOur philosophy of treatment is based on several fundamental points:
- We offer safe, medicated detox under the supervision of medical professionals.
- We recognise that drugs often aren't the only issue. Drug abuse is often a response to, or a cause of, other coexisting issues such as depression. Overcoming each issue requires a wider strategy than one designed to treat drug dependency alone.
- We treat the whole person, not just one isolated problem. Taking into account the wider circumstances of a person's life – their home life, work, relationships, family, personal medical history, any past traumatic experiences – is the best way to uncover and deal with the influences that are prolonging a drug problem.
- Treatment options should fit where possible with everyday routines. As well as extended overnight stays, we offer day and evening programs that may be more suitable for people with less severe addictions.
- Families have an important role to play. Each of our treatment programs includes a component that involves family, to educate them about the recovery process and better equip them for their role as supporters.
A high rate of successWhen compared to other treatment centres, South Pacific Private's programs have a significantly higher chance of breaking the cycle of drug dependency.

Our 3 options for treating drug addiction
- Evening Program - 8 evenings plus one Saturday, for minimal disruption to your usual daily routine. It's particularly beneficial for people whose drug dependency is less severe.
- Day Program - 10 to 20 days from 9am to 4pm* Minimal disruption to your daily routine at home, as you're free to return home at the end of each day. It's another particularly beneficial option for people whose drug dependency is less severe.
- Inpatient program – generally 1–5 weeks of 24 hour professional inpatient care*. The exact length of your stay will be tailored to your needs by the team responsible for your care, and will include full medical support through your detox. You'll be involved in the 'therapeutic community' of fellow inpatients, providing peer support and nurturing your self-esteem and awareness.
