South Pacific applies a bio-psycho-social model to understanding the formation of sex addiction. This model involves an account of how one’s family history of coping, genetic factors, personality and underlying emotions can interact in specific ways to produce a compulsion-prone individual.
Recovery for a sex addict involves an understanding of how this individual may ‘use’ sexual activities (including sexual acts with or without partners, masturbation or pornography) as a means of coping with, or managing difficult emotions.
Because their are many factors that fuel a person's addiction, South Pacific offers a tailored treatment plan based on an individual assessment of your needs. This may include in-patient or day programmes of one to five weeks’ duration.
Tailored treatment plans work within the structure of a proven, professionally-created framework. We take into account your needs, life issues and personal circumstances, so you can gain the skills to make real changes in your life as you over-come your need for compulsive sexual activity and become the person you really want to be.
If you are confused about whether or not your sexual behaviour / activities might be compulsive, you might like to read our Understanding Sex Addiction page or use our Self Assessment to help gain some perspective.
