Clinical

Medical Officer (GP) (Part-Time)

About the role

The Medical Officer is responsible for providing medical treatment for individual inpatient clients at South Pacific Private Hospital, including admission assessments, detox management and ongoing medical evaluation and care. Care for Day Program clients is limited to intervention in medical emergency (code blue) while awaiting transfer to emergency department.

Standard requirements:

  • Professional integrity, adherence to a professional code of ethics and confidentiality requirements as per SPP policy
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and professional internal and external boundaries
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment effectively, respecting difference and diversity
  • Maintain personal professional skills, competence and performance
  • Work within the operational policy and procedure framework

Qualifications/experience/personal attributes:

  • Recognised current NSW Medical Board qualifications (AHPRA)
  • Current medical indemnity and workers comp insurance
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Current Working With Children certificate
  • SPP Medical Provider Number
  • Preferable 1 year Experience with Drug and Alcohol detoxification/Psychiatry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation

Psychiatrist – VMO

About the role
South Pacific Private is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatrist VMO to join our team on a contract basis at our Curl Curl, NSW facility. As a Psychiatrist VMO, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional mental health care to our clients, leveraging your expertise to provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and evidence-based treatments. This is a contract position, offering the flexibility to balance your clinical work with other professional commitments.

What you’ll be doing

  • To support the Clinical Director and GM in providing Clinical Governance for the organisation
  • To provide psychiatric care to clients admitted to South Pacific Private under your care
  • Provides urgent pre-admission psychiatric assessments where necessary
  • Reviews clients under your care weekly (at least)
  • Responsible for ensuring psychiatric cover for your patients while you are away
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams weekly to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate client records, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies
  • Reviews Day Program clients when deemed necessary following your group observations, or when suggested by Day Program Manager

What we’re looking for

  • A medical degree with specialist qualifications in Psychiatry and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Medicare Provider Number.
  • Significant experience working as a Psychiatrist, preferably in a hospital or private practice setting
  • Excellent clinical skills, including the ability to conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop effective treatment plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • A commitment to delivering the highest standard of client-centred care

Changes Therapist

About this role:

An exciting opportunity has become available within the South Pacific Private Inpatient Therapy team for a Changes I Therapist. This is a permanent part time role working one, 5 day week per month as part of a four week cycle.

The successful applicant will hold tertiary qualifications in psychology, psychotherapy or counselling and have at least 2 years’ experience working with clients who have experienced developmental trauma and who are living with addiction, mental health or relational concerns. Experience working with groups would be an advantage.

About Changes I:

Changes I is South Pacific Private’s signature workshop and is what sets us apart from other treatment centres in the country.

The Changes I Program is a key part of our inpatient program and is now also offered as a standalone inpatient workshop for individuals who are in recovery and wanting to dive deeper.

This Trauma-informed program uses Pia Mellody’s Model of Developmental Immaturity and is an experiential process group which incorporates group therapy, education and process work. It is facilitated by our renowned, trained clinicians.

In a safe and compassionate environment clients have the opportunity to explore childhood relational trauma, to process, honour and release the painful feelings that are holding them back from embracing their full potential and moving forward in recovery.

Are you an experienced nurse who has a passion for Mental Health nursing? Do you have an interest in human behaviour?
