A Message from the CEO

Mum would often say of South Pacific Private, that ‘miracles happen here’, and it’s still true to this day.

A new era for South Pacific Private

Fleur Wood, CEO

In 1993, my parents Bill and Lorraine Wood took the first step at pioneering trauma-informed mental health treatment in Australia, when they opened the doors of South Pacific Private Hospital. They were true trailblazers; in the early nineties, they went against the norm and challenged mainstream thinking about how to treat addiction, trauma and anxiety.

Almost exactly 30 years later, I am humbled to be stepping into the role of CEO at South Pacific Private, with the support of my sister Fran, to continue building on what our parents began.

Fran and I often think about what mum and dad would think if they could see the hospital today. We know they would be incredibly happy and proud to see their legacy being upheld. Mum would often say of South Pacific Private, that ‘miracles happen here’, and it’s still true to this day. You can watch our story of 30 years here.

We remain committed to being there for the client community every step of the way.

The impact of the work we do here at South Pacific Private continues to inspire. Our focus on family systems and relationships remains unique and powerful, and our expertise in identifying and addressing underlying trauma is one of the most transformative aspects of our work. We provide, to those who reach out, the power, knowledge and tools to free themselves to live full, rich, happy and healthy lives – something everyone deserves, but which too often feels out of reach.

In this new era for South Pacific Private, we remain committed to building on the exceptional services we provide to those who are in need. It’s my vision that we continue cementing our positioning as Australia’s leading treatment centre, providing long-term recovery outcomes and leading the way in trauma-informed mental health care.
