What We Treat
South Pacific Private is a private hospital on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. For over 30 years, our multidisciplinary team has provided inpatient treatment for adults experiencing:
– Substance use – alcohol, prescription medication, and other substances
– Co-occurring mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and PTSD
– Unresolved trauma, including developmental and childhood trauma
– Disordered eating alongside co-occurring mental health presentations
Treatment addresses the underlying causes of these conditions, not just the presenting symptoms. Our approach integrates psychiatric assessment, group psychotherapy, and evidence-based therapeutic programs within a 24/7 clinical environment.

What Happens When Someone Enters Treatment

Understanding the process can help you feel more prepared.
On admission, each client undergoes a full clinical assessment with our psychiatry team. From there, a structured inpatient program is developed in consultation with the client and their treating clinicians. The inpatient program runs within a 54-bed facility and includes:
– Daily group psychotherapy
– Individual psychiatric and therapeutic sessions
– A personal, dedicated multi-disciplinary support (MDS) team led by a psychiatrist along with experienced GPs, nursing staff, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and case workers
– educational lectures
– 24-hour access nursing support
– Medically supervised detox where clinically indicated
– A structured daily therapeutic schedule, seven days a week
Most clients hold private health insurance. Our intake team can provide guidance on coverage and what to expect before any commitment is made.
Support for Loved Ones
Being close to someone in treatment is its own experience. South Pacific Private recognises that.
The Family Program Our four-day Family Program is designed for partners, parents, siblings, and other significant people in a client’s life. Through psycho-educational sessions and guided group discussions, the program addresses family relational dynamics, communication, and the shared impact of addiction and mental health conditions. The family program runs online every fortnight (Saturday–Monday) and onsite every weekend (Friday–Monday), both as full-day sessions.
Family Education Day For loved ones who want to better understand addiction and mental health, regardless of whether the person they care about is in treatment, we also offer a standalone Family Education Day. It’s a full-day program available to the general public, run online only.
