Self-Assessment: Love Addiction
This self-assessment is designed to help you identify key indicators of love addiction and codependency and raise awareness about negative, escalatory or cyclical patterns. It is not intended as a clinical diagnostic tool.
Do I have a Problem with Love Addiction?
Love Addiction describes a dysfunctional relationship pattern that some of us repeatedly find ourselves falling into. It describes behaviours in a relationship which block intimacy and true connection due to an excessive reliance on others to fulfill our emotional needs and sense of self-worth.
For those of us in a love addiction or codependency cycle, it can sometimes be extremely difficult to see or admit there is a problem, especially because these issues can be entangled with intimacy, love, fear and shame. This self-assessment may provide insight into your relationships.
As you read each of the following statements, take your time to think about the answer before selecting the response which feels right. Only you will see the results of this test, so take this as an opportunity to be completely honest with yourself. Remember, minimising and denying behaviours and consequences may be a symptom of dysfunction.
If you’d rather undertake a free, confidential, tailored assessment over the phone — or would like to discuss your results — our team is available seven days a week on 1800 063 332 or contact us here.
